California!

On the last day of July Danny's semester ended and we drove to California for a two week break.  Despite having my parents here at the end of June and my Mom here only the week before we were still really excited:) We drove in and found...

 

Luke and Emily were moving that very evening so we were lucky enough to get to play with Grandma, Camille and Elizabeth that very afternoon. Our timing was fortuitous because Danny was also there to help out with the move. With my parents away at girls camp for most of the first week we were able to hang out at the Leininger's a lot and visit with the whole family. 

That week the girls and their cousins played dress-up, read stories, did art projects with Grandma, played in the sprinklers and ate lots of peaches and popsicles.

 Julie and family arrived the day after we did to stay for good! We are so excited that they have moved to California. We celebrated by going to the beach one morning.  It was the babies' first trip to the beach. They were tolerant of the water but loved playing in the sand.

 During most of our downtime we played at the Anderson's with Katy and watched countless hours of the Olympics. I am kind of an Olympics fanatic so through the miracle of DVR we watched A LOT of coverage. I still experienced anxiety that we weren't watching everything, but with five NBC affiliates it just wasn't possible.  We did managed to watch all of our favorite events and then some. I loved seeing the English scenery. I thought London did a great job. 

During our stay Danny and I got to go on one awesome date.  We had a fun dinner at Va de Vi, a tapas place in Walnut Creek Danny loves that we can only afford if we eat very little:) We also saw the Bourne movie and got some Naia.  We were seriously disappointed in the former and loved the latter.

 After a relaxing and fun vacation we headed home for only a couple days before our Anderson Reunion in Park City. While my parents' car zoomed by we did the drive with our full backseat of kiddos. The babies' weren't quite as easy on the drive home so we resorted to this...

it DID NOT WORK! Dramamine only perks my kids up apparently. They were okay they just didn't sleep the whole time. When we got them out at the end of our drive they each had about six binkies in their seats. You can tell binkies are my go-to soother.
